PROJECT METHODOLOGY
The Options Project uses a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to Pregnancy Prevention through abstinence specifically designed to address the special needs of children in foster care. Methods include direct instruction through the Options Abstinence until Marriage curriculum; training teachers, parents and parent surrogates to deliver the abstinence message; providing supports for choosing abstinence through mentoring, counseling, career development, and self esteem building activities
The Options project has been expanded to seven additional special act school districts who are implementing our model program. Additionally, we collaborate with other Title 5 and SPRANS projects within New York State as well as other projects serving young people in our area. Our ultimate goal is to disseminate the project to all foster care children in New York State.
